The Schumwich

The favorite lunch of New York’s senior senator, Chuck Schumer, is packing (deep breath) roast beef, banana peppers (banana chilies), jalapeños, onions, tomatoes, double pickles, mayo, and mustard on Italian bread. I can only but imagine the pickle-laced onion breath.
Schumer has reportedly thrown a tantrum should he feel insufficient attention has been paid to the making of his sandwich, berating aides who failed to watch every layer of construction with an eagle eye.
Makes 1
INGREDIENTS
1 Italian-style crusty white roll, split open
Mayonnaise
Yellow (American-style) mustard
3 slices cold roast beef
1 tomato, sliced
Sliced (seeded) banana peppers (banana chilies), mild green Turkish peppers, or yellow bell peppers
Sliced red onion
Sliced dill pickles—as many as you dare
Pickled jalapeño slices
Sea salt and black pepper, to taste

Spread one half of the roll with mayonnaise and the other with mustard. Fill the roll by layering on the roast beef, followed by the tomato, banana peppers (banana chilies), red onion, dill pickles, and pickled jalapeño slices. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
