Only in
America? The Luther burger consists of a bacon cheeseburger, sandwiched between
a glazed doughnut rather than a hamburger bun. Yes, you did read that
correctly. It is apparently named after the singer Luther Vandross, who is
rumored to have favored it as a snack, or possibly even invented it after
running out of hamburger buns. There’s no real evidence for this whatsoever but
it’s a fun story so I’m rolling with it.
A burger with
a doughnut sounds unpleasant, but it’s all about the combination of salty and
sweet, which really works; think salted caramel, or bacon and maple syrup, for
example. In fact, a more accessible version of this sandwich is just the crisp
bacon inside the doughnut; the incarnation I would personally choose to eat.
How brave are you?

TIP:
The idea of the Luther may send your
arteries running for cover, but think of all the ingredients individually…
Burgers = good
Melted cheese = really good
Bacon = excellent
Doughnuts = very good
Take
a look at the following formula developed by Harvard scientists:
good + really good x excellent2 + very good = amazing
It
clearly shows that this sandwich is going to be one of the best things you have
ever eaten. And science doesn’t lie. So don’t knock this beauty until you’ve
tried it.
